Port Renfrew Marina Report Aug.27/12

At Port Renfrew Marina Chinook fishing has slowed down the past week. East Point and Camper Creek are producing fish but all and all there us a lull in action. It can be good one day and slower the next.  Most being caught are in the mid to high twenty pound range.  Coho fishing is fantastic, two to three miles offshore they are thick. Spoons and hoochies are hot right now and they can be found from the surface down to sixty feet. We are thinking it is looking more and more like it will be a good year for Coho's.

Halibut fishing is slow, only the odd one is hitting the docks. The biggest last week was Bruce Miller's from www.millertimefishingcharters.com with a 70 pounder.  Bob Gicas of Pacific Shores Charters also brought in three one day last week ranging from 60 to 70 pounds also.

Notable Catches:

  • Roland Weir       67 hali

   Christine & Ron Barnhart

16 lb red snapper 68.5 halibut 19 lb spring

assorted hatchery coho up to 8 lb AND 1/2 lb rockfish!!

More News: The Deering Bridge is delayed from being finished. Sorry if you read that it was completed but we have been informed that they are going to be working on it another two weeks or so. The delays seem to be longer now so you may want to time your trips before 9am or after 5pm. They are working on refinishing the surface.

Very Important: Port Renfrew Marina will be closing this year on October 14th. Please make sure you have your unit and or boat out of the camp on or before that date unless making arrangements for winter storage. We would appreciate all accounts to be completed before we close.  Thank you.
